早上一睁眼，就看到了爆炸性新闻。新航SQ将于10月11日复航新加坡SIN-纽约/纽瓦克EWR的直飞航线。订座将于5月31日开放。

30 May 2018 – Singapore Airlines (SIA) will launch the world’s longest commercial flights in October, with non-stop services between Singapore and New York using the new Airbus A350-900ULR (ultra-long-range).

Flights are to be launched on 11 October 2018, to Newark Liberty International Airport. The route will initially be served three times a week, departing Singapore on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. Daily operations will commence from 18 October after an additional A350-900ULR aircraft enters service.

该航班飞行距离达到16700公里（10437.5英里），时间更是长达18小时45分钟。而现今最长航班卡塔尔航空921，新西兰奥克兰-卡塔尔多哈，也只有14535公里 （9032英里）。

幸运的是，这航班只有67个商务舱+94个豪华经济舱的布局。新航官方给的豪华经济舱如下图所示：

新航曾经使用A340-500执飞该航线，但于2013年停航，自此新加坡没有直飞美国的航班。

后来美联航UA于2016年6月1日使用波音787-9开航旧金山-新加坡，使得美新再次有了直飞航班，随后新航也跟进，后来UA又新开洛杉矶-新加坡。

但对于位于东海岸的世界金融中心纽约来说，去新加坡仍是一个麻烦的事（6小时左右到西海岸，再飞17小时到新加坡）。新航的复航，将使得两个金融中心来往更方便。
